Spotlight on Failaka
Of Kuwait's nine small islands, Failaka is our favorite. Once a Sumerian, Dilmunian and ancient Greek mercantile outpost, this tiny island is now an abandoned place. Home to ancient ruins, Failaka is a retreat from the madding crowds and the overlit highways of Kuwait. Its beauty lies in its simplicity, its untouched nature. Man has for the last twenty years neglected this beauty, and we are thankful for that. In the winter, Failaka hides behind a thin veil of fog while in the spring, it swims in wildflowers.
